Dizzy’s Preschool Philosophy
At Dizzy’s Bus Stop Preschool, our basic goal is to foster an environment where kids can master self-reliance, and an “I can do it” attitude. Our focus on fundamental preschool skills such as fine and gross motor development, social, and emotional growth enable the child to gain a positive sense of self worth, as well as respect for others and their environment.
We believe that children learn by doing, which in return builds self esteem, confidence and understanding of how things work. We strive to create an environment where children learn concepts through their most important job – PLAY!
Our preschool will guide each child in the growth and development of the whole child. Areas related to physical, emotional, and social development are all given equal attention when preparing a curriculum to fit the needs of each child. A child's self expression, problem-solving, reasoning, creativity, and analytical thinking are worked out through meaningful play. Our teachers strive to aid each child in developing a positive self-image.
Dizzy’s Preschool Curriculum
Dizzy’s Preschool supports a play-based learning environment that recognizes the value of child-initiated play to support cognitive development of science, math, language and literacy skills. Children’s play stimulates the physical social, emotional and creative development that is critical during a child’s early years. Through play, children actively pose problems, derive solutions, and develop understandings of real world concepts. Dizzy’s Preschool has an emergent curriculum, ensuring a smooth progression from the Green to the Yellow to the Red classroom.
Through the use of an age-appropriate and individualized curriculum, our preschool integrates play experiences with a comprehensive learning environment. Each class will explore math, science, language, music, art, movement and dramatic play through a hands-on, discovery-based daily curriculum in an exciting and nurturing environment. Our Red Class (4s-5s) will place a stronger emphasis on Kindergarten-Readiness Skills in math, reading, writing and problem solving. With an emphasis on social skills and instilling a love of learning, our curriculum builds upon itself with each class, ensuring students are fully prepared to integrate into Kindergarten.
Preschool Teachers
Miss Diane
Miss Diane joined Dizzy’s in the fall of 2011. She received her Teaching degree with a minor in Special Ed from Pepperdine University, and had an amazing opportunity teaching children with a broad spectrum of disabilities in Carmel California. She has worked with various groups of children ranging in both age and abilities. For the past 7 years she has been a lead preschool teacher and art specialist. She is a dedicated USC Trojans fan where her daughter is now a Senior. She also is her son’s number one fan who is a Junior at Sammamish High School. Miss Diane is very excited about our new preschool program and the amazing team that we have to teach the children. Teaching is truly her passion and she is looking forward to a fun and amazing year!
Miss Alyssa
Miss Alyssa joined Dizzy’s in the Summer of 2009. She hails from Moscow, Idaho, and has a BS from Washington State University in General Sciences, with a focus on Sociology and Women’s Studies. Miss Alyssa is an active mom to son Barry, who began Kindergarten this year at Phantom Lake Elementary. Alyssa has many years of experience as a camp counselor, babysitter, big sister, and preschool assistant. She’s got games, tricks and fun to spare! Alyssa loves seeing kids learn new skills, and seeing their eyes light up with excitement. She is very excited to have a class of her own, and especially loves teaching the 3’s. When she’s not at the Bus Stop teaching, you might find her reading, cooking, or skiing, and definitely going on adventures with her family!
Miss Dizzy
Miss Dizzy is excited to now be teaching the 2s/Early 3s preschool class. This is her favorite age to work with because the children are so excited to learn new things and explore their environment. So much of what we work on at this age is the social and emotional development of the children. It's our job to help them communicate with their peers, understand how their actions impact others, and explore their own feelings. We understand that this is often times a child's first time to ever be left in someone else's care and it can sometimes be a little scary, and Miss Dizzy is always eager to create a safe and nurturing environment. We want the children to develop a lifelong love of learning and it all starts here. When Miss Dizzy loves being a part of a great preschool team and when she isn't working in the classroom, you can probably find her in the office working with the rest of the Dizzybus team or off at one of her children's many sporting events. Even with 3 kids of her own, she tries to never miss a game or performance.
